A new pizza concept, Washington Square Pizza, is preparing to debut later this year at 31 Washington Boulevard in Venice.

The new restaurant will open in a vacant space between Doobi’s Smoke Shop and Fat Sal’s Deli, according to documents submitted to the City of Los Angeles Planning Department. This is the latest from Tima Bell, a Venice Beach native who is also the principal and founder of Bell Design Group and a member of the Venice Neighborhood Council. Bell tells What Now Los Angeles that Washington Square Pizza will be situated in an area known to longtime locals as Washington Square.

The new pizza concept will be a family establishment that can deliver pizza up and down the walk streets and peninsula. With a walk-up window for late-night slices and seating 140 people when fully open, the design and menu are intended to reflect Venice’s territorial yet welcoming nature. Bell tells What Now Los Angeles that he hopes to open Washington Square Pizza in phases, starting with a soft opening at the end of the month, followed by the bar’s opening next month and sidewalk outdoor seating shortly after.

When the restaurant opens, customers can expect a selection of familiar classics, and some unique creations of pizza. Customers will also be able to build their own pizza with various customizable options, such as crust style and different cheese. For those interested in trying something other than pizza, the restaurant will also have a burger, Philly cheesesteak, veggie burger, hot dog, three salads, and more. Everything will be reasonably priced, with the meat lovers pizza being the most expensive at $15, making this a very affordable option when it opens.

This is a massive accomplishment for Bell and his operating partners at Playbook Advisors, a product of Alessandro Nicolaci. While Bell owns this new restaurant, he and his other architectural company, Relativity Architects, are building the space, which is exciting news. Bell is the recipient of the Individual Boutique 18 Design Award and the Boutique 18 Design Restaurant Award. From straw-bale construction to various high-end hospitality projects and motion picture studios to master plans, he is vigilant throughout the process to balance quality, style, and efficiency. The established architect will now bring delicious pizza to the streets of Venice.
