The owners of Zavala’s Barbecue in Grand Prairie are planning to build a new coffee shop and beer garden called Mas Coffee Co. behind the existing barbecue joint that’s located at 421 W Main St.
Founded and owned by Joe Zavala and wife, Christan, Zavala’s Barbecue has been serving good barbecue in Grand Prairie going on two years now. And their coffee concept, Mas Coffee Co., has been brewing right alongside it. To call the coffee shop “new” is not entirely accurate as Mas has been operating inside of the Zavala’s Barbecue building since 2019 when both concepts opened. But now, it is set to get a standalone home of its own.
The Zavalas are expecting the building, which will include a drive-through, to be ready sometime in 2023. The expanded menu is still under development, but along with coffee, there will also be eats like brisket breakfast tacos. Mas Coffee Co. currently serves hot and iced teas and a variety of coffees including drip, lattes, mochas and cold brew.
The coffee shop isn’t the only thing in the works. The Zavalas also want to transform the space between the two buildings into a beer garden that will offer outdoor seating for coffee or barbecue customers. And someday, The Dallas Morning News reports, they may even open a brewery of their own with business partner Drew Wright.
And if business keeps booming like it has been for the Zavalas, they are planning to open several more Mas Coffee Co. shops in and around Dallas-Fort Worth.
