Another popular Chick’nCone franchise is expected to open in late January 2022 at 501 N. Orlando Ave., Suite 243, Winter Park.
Franchisee Michael Vaz — this is his first franchise — has a background in working for non-profits and plans to bring his serve-the-community mindset to his family-run business.
“I am a former nonprofit executive director and my wife is a former nonprofit executive as well. Additionally, our daughter is a certified special education teacher. We all have a passion to support and help others achieve their goals. We have already begun having conversations with some nonprofits in Winter Park on how we can support their mission,” Vaz said.
“Our biggest inspiration is helping to see others realize their potential by granting opportunities to succeed. We are excited to have the opportunity to assist in supporting local nonprofits,” Vaz said.
Chick’nCone is a quick service restaurant that sells fried chicken in a hand-held waffle cone. In a “fork-free” spin on a true southern staple of chicken and waffles, chicken nuggets are laden with the customer’s choice of sauce and then piled into a freshly made waffle cone. There is a savory or sweet sauce to please every palette — Kickin’ Ranch, Yella BBQ, Traditional BBQ, Buffalo Blue, Cinna-Maple and Peri Peri.
Vaz said owning a franchise is much the same as working in a non-profit when it comes to helping others.
“We have seen many parallels with our career and Chick’nCone in operating through a nonprofit lens in making positive contributions in service to others.
“We want to be good neighbors in Winter Park,” he said.
