News broke last year of a major franchise agreement between popular sandwich chain Potbelly Sandwich Works and Stellar Hospitality, one that would bring 14 locations to Broward County (plus another two to Gainesville).

“We are enthused to begin a partnership with Rami Boaziz and Stellar Hospitality, which we believe will be great stewards of the brand,” Potbelly President & CEO Bob Wright said in a press release at the time.

One of these locations appears to be in the works in Plantation, where submitted plan review documents show a new Potbelly opening at 1714 N University Drive N2. The location would be part of the busy retail and restaurant community surrounding the intersection with West Sunrise Boulevard.

“From the comforting, melty cheese of a toasted sandwich made with love, to classic photos of Jimi Hendrix shredding a guitar solo at Woodstock, Potbelly is just a fun place to be,” says the brand’s website. “We’re a first-class dive. A place to take a break from it all. Sure we make the best toasted sandwiches in all the galaxies (sorry aliens, but it’s true). But we serve them up with a smile. That’s easy when you love what you do: Making people really happy with craveable food, from our toasty sandwiches, soups, salads, fresh-baked cookies and hand-scooped milkshakes.”

What Now reached out on Monday to franchisee Rami Boaziz, CEO at Stellar Hospitality, to inquire about plans for a Potbelly in Plantation. Boaziz was not immediately available for comment.

“I grew to love the Potbelly brand during my time as a Chicago resident and am extremely excited for the opportunity to be a partner with Potbelly and grow its presence in the Florida market,” Boaziz said last year.
