Is it a manor? Is it a palace? Is it a… castle? Well, “technically” yes. That new building rising from the ground like a fast-food citadel in The Village at O-Town West, on 11595 Daryl Carter Pkwy, is officially the world’s largest free-standing White Castle!

This fortress of sliders, shakes and fries, has been in business selling hot-off-the-grill fast food to its “cravers” around the U.S. for 100 years. Founded in 1921 by Billy Ingram “with $700 and an idea, selling five-cent, small, square hamburgers so easy to eat, they were dubbed Sliders and sold by the sack.” (Official)

White Castle became the U.S.’s first fast-food hamburger chain. And today owns more than 360 restaurants in 13 states, as well as 2 restaurants in China. The opening of The Orlando Castle marks the brand’s first addition Florida since the 1960’s.

“We have been humbled and honored by the warm welcome we have received to date from the Central Florida community,” CEO Lisa Ingram said in a press release. “Our vision at White Castle is to ‘feed the souls of craver generations everywhere’ and our mission is to ‘create memorable moments every day’. We can’t wait to meet our new neighbors, whether long-time Cravers or new to the Castle.”

Given that the opening on May 3rd brought out a mile-long line of cars and set a new single-day sales record for the franchise, Orlando seems to be happy satisfying their cravings at The Orlando Castle.
