Indian fusion pizzerias — commonly known as “desi pizzerias” — are having a moment, especially in the Bay Area. Over the last few years, dozens of Indian-style pizza joints have popped up in San Jose alone, but perhaps none as versatile as Parktown Pizza Company.

Known for its craft beer, sports bar vibes, and spicy desi pizzas, including a butter chicken pie and a tandoori paneer pie, Parktown Pizza originated in Milpitas about 10 years ago under ownership of Nick Cheema, according to the Morgan Hill Times. Since then, Cheema has expanded to Morgan Hill and Willow Glen, and it looks like he’s about to open a fourth location at 6766 Bernal Avenue in Pleasanton.

The reported new spot is in plaza near Plucked Chicken & Beer, Bagel Street Cafe, and The Habit Burger Grill, and while there are no neighboring Indian pizzerias (or Indian restaurants, for that matter), Namaste Pizza, another popular desi pizzeria, is just a short drive down Bernal Ave.

Parktown Pizza could open in May, an employee at an existing location told What Now San Francisco, likely offering weekly specials, more than twenty beers on tap, and spicy masala pies just in time for kick off.
