Boca Taqueria opened its original taco truck in 2015, followed shortly after by its brick-and-mortar Mesa location and another in Gilbert. Since then, owners and spouses Clay and Jewelia Eagar have been committed to serving up handmade tacos, crafted in-house with only the freshest ingredients, alongside a crew of taco extraordinaires who they’ve been working with for over fifteen years.
This Friday, April 23, Boca Taqueria is opening its third location (and second Mesa location), at 10706 East Point Twenty-Two Boulevard in Eastmark. Unlike the taco shop’s first spot, which has a rustic Mexican hacienda feel, with colorful wall art and eclectic tiled tables, the new spot will have a more streamlined, modern vibe, with neon taqueria signs and lots of black metal accents (but if you’re a fan of their first location, there will still be plenty of funky tiles at the new spot).
The build-out has been the taqueria’s most expensive one yet, and includes a nearly 1300 square foot patio with a bench that spans its entire south side, and a sliding garage door suited for indoor-outdoor dining.
Like all their locations, the Eastmark spot will be counter service only, with tables inside and outside for dining in, and Clay and Jewelia are excited to meet their new customers. “We were born and raised in Mesa,” says Clay, whose first Mesa restaurant has been awarded Best Mexican Food by the East Valley Tribune three times in four years. “And it’s such an honor to be a part of the Mexican restaurant community here.”
Head there Friday for some carne asada tacos, or one of those delicious, cheese-smothered tamales.
