Bay Area indoor nursery Plants and Friends opened in 2017 and already has two locations in San Francisco — one in Pacific Heights and a temporary spot in Hayes Valley. Now, after a year of social isolation that produced, we imagine, an innumerable amount of new “plant parents,” Plants and Friends is setting up another permanent shop.
The nursery has signed a lease at 522 Octavia Street in Hayes Valley, on the corner of Ivy and Octavia Streets, in the former space of clothing boutique Seldom Seen.
Plants and Friends gives the same amount of care and attention to its plants as you might to your best friend. Its artisanal approach to plant selection ensures that customers take home high quality, well-cared for plants that leave the nursery well-equipped for the real world — or at least, for your window seat.
The nursery also offers styling and green interior design services for homes, offices, and commercial spaces. And can we just say, if our apartments looked like the inside of Plants and Friends, we’d gladly sign up for another year inside (just kidding, but if we have to quarantine again, we know who we’re calling to spruce up our homes).
There’s no word yet on when the nursery plans to open its new location, but if you’re on Octavia Street, keep your eyes peeled for a little extra greenery in the coming months.
