A new taco shop is headed for Morgan Hill. Burritos Tacos Y Mas has filed for permits to open a restaurant at 1295 E Dunne Avenue, and is expected to open within a few months.
The space, formerly Harvest Coffee House, shares a small plaza with Hanami Sushi, book store Booksmart, and Vietnamese restaurant Vietasia, among other businesses.
Tacos Burritos Y Mas will be a fast-casual joint specializing in traditional Mexican food — tacos, burritos, tortas, and more. Co-owner Marcos Sanchez says the goal is simple: make good food. “It’s nothing fancy,” says Sanchez, who is a Morgan Hill local. “We just want to make sure we’re doing good by our customers. Until now, whenever I wanted Mexican food I had to drive across town, because there’s nothing on this side of the freeway. Our goal is to change that.”
Burritos Tacos Y Mas will offer counter service to customers, who can either dine-in or take out. Of course, no good taco shop is complete without a liquor license, and Sanchez says Burritos Tacos Y Mas has also applied for one of those. “We’ll do Micheladas, margaritas, all that good stuff,” he says.
For now, Burritos Tacos Y Mas is still remodeling, but Sanchez hopes that the permit process will move along quickly so he can open before the end of the summer. And we hope so, too. After all, nothing beats a taco and a margarita on a summer afternoon.
