He’s not in a rush, but Mark Purciel, now sole-proprietor, has plans to reopen Oceanside Ale Works, the brewery that began way back in 2006 and amassed a large following. A post from February to OAW’s Facebook via Purciel’s page had former patrons commenting things like “Good times,” along with a couple of hopeful, “are you back in business?” notes.
And the answer, reportedly, is soon! Purciel told San Diego Beer that depending on Governor Newsom’s plans for reopening the state, OAW could be back brewing and open to the public by mid-summer.
In the couple of years since the closure of OAW, Purciel has been touring the country, speaking with other brewers and doing an overhaul on the original brew systems. He’s also been working on his own home-brewing. San Diego Beer reports that patrons can expect the old staples from OAW, like Buccaneer Blonde, Pier View Pale, and The Dude Double IPA, as well as some of the new recipes Purciel has been working on.
It appears that OAW, when Purciel is ready, will reopen in the same 6,000 square foot space at 1800 Ord Way in Oceanside.
