Lovers of wine, rejoice! The popular natural wine-delivery company Bar Part Time will be moving to a permeant brick-and-mortar storefront this fall.

Replacing the recently-shuttered Thieves Tavern at 496 14th St, Bar Part Time will be bringing the party back to a neighborhood that has been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. While dozens of Mission District bars have closed permanently since 2020, Bar Part Time is a rare success that has somehow managed to only grow during the pandemic.

Owner Justin Dolezal founded the company in February of last year with his partners Jeremy Castillo and Dan Small, beginning as a natural wine-tasting pop-up. Their early success in February 2020 was marred by the onset of massive lockdowns as the coronavirus began to spread across the country. Faced with an existential threat to their brand new business, the young entrepreneurs decided to pivot to a new business model.

Realizing that the traditional bar experience they were hoping to offer was no longer tenable, Justin and his partners began delivering their unique natural wines through Instagram instead. At a time when brick-and-mortar restaurants were shutting down left and right, Bar Part Time discovered a formula for success when they transitioned to full-time contactless delivery. San Francisco residents loved their selection of high quality, natural wines and the unpretentious attitude maintained by the owners.

The story doesn’t end there, though. Bar Part Time was never meant to be just a wine delivery service, and now that normalcy is beginning to return to San Francisco, Bar Part Time is transitioning into its second phase as they prepare to open their first brick-and-mortar storefront at 496 14th street this fall. The new location will be the perfect opportunity to host events and local artists from all across the bay area. Their Instagram even features specially curated radio playlists for customers to take the party on the go.

The new location is an exciting opportunity for Justin and his partners, and represents the culmination of everything they’ve been working towards before the pandemic hit. Justin is deeply humble about surviving at a time when so many people have faced tragedy and hopes that his new bar will provide Mission District residents with some much-needed levity and entertainment.
