A brand new Mexican restaurant is coming to San Francisco’s Portola neighborhood. It’s called Los Cuates Taqueria and it’s expected to open up at 2426 San Bruno Avenue.

Los Cuetas, which appropriately means “twin” in Spanish, already has one other location open at 140 Hazelwood Dr in South San Francisco. Now it appears that the aptly named restaurant will be getting a twin of its own.

Owned and operated by Mario Flores, Los Cuates specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine from the Sinaloa region. Famous for their well-stuffed burritos and flavorful tacos, Los Cuates has built quite a reputation for itself in its neighborhood. Residents have been flocking to Los Cuates for affordable yet authentic burritos, striking the perfect balance between flavor and convenience.

The new Los Cuates will be replacing Cinco De Mayo Taqueria, which previously operated in the space. At the moment, Google lists this location as “open”, yet the phone number connected to the restaurant is no longer active. There has been no official word on the closure of Cinco De Mayo, but the dead phone line and application for a new restaurant indicate that Cinco De Mayo has either closed or is in the process of closing.

The new location would put Los Cuates right by the off-ramp to the Bayshore Freeway, making it an extremely attractive location for drawing in new customers. While you wait for the new restaurant, be sure to visit its twin on Hazlewood Drive to get a taste of the future.
