The owner of Central Avenue Treat Market in Umatilla is opening a new business in Melbourne following a three-year hiatus. Scoop n Roll will occupy the former Faith & Home Store at 3122 N. Lake Washington Road.

Owner Cathy Hanstein and her daughter-in-law Christiana Hanstein plan to open a 1950s-style ice cream shop. The 1,230 square-foot business will include a jukebox, pinball machine, life-sized likenesses of The Blues Brothers, and an old-fashioned Chevy truck seat for photos.

Scoop n Roll will serve hand-dipped Hershey ice cream and soft serve, gourmet milkshakes garnished with treats, banana splits, ice cream floats and sundaes, cotton candy, shaved ice, freeze-dried candy, baked goods, popcorn, hot dogs, and more.

Guests can also try spaghetti ice cream, a dessert popularized in Germany that’s made with a machine that gives it the appearance of pasta. It’s typically served with baked goods that look like meatballs.

Hanstein, who owned Central Avenue Treat Market for four-and-a-half years before selling, told What Now Orlando that the build out for Scoop n Roll is just beginning, but that she hopes to be open within a few months.
