K-38 Beach Mex Cantina hopes to capture the vibes of the Baja California culture and cuisine when it opens next month at 1155 W. Ocotillo Road, Suite 1, in Chandler. The cantina is the joined efforts of wife-and-husband team Missy and Anthony Games, who after meeting twelve years ago while working in the same restaurant, opted to create something of their own with all that experience.
“Anthony and Missy formed Games Group Hospitality in 2021,” shares K-38’s social media. “K-38 B.M.C. was inspired by childhood memories of fishing and surf trips to Baja California, Mexico with their families. They hope to capture the magic of the Baja California culture and cuisine as they experienced it through the years and share it through their own interpretation.” In case you were wondering, yes, this does include made-in-house-to-order tortillas.
K-38 takes its name from a cluster of ‘excellent surf breaks’ located at kilometer 38 of Baja Highway 1 in Baja California. The eatery aims, in the tradition of street food vendors, to offer fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. You can expect a ‘world-class’ margarita program, Taco Tuesday, and “weekend brunch for a dining experience like you’ve never had before.”
We were unable to reach Games at the time of publication, so we can’t say exactly when K-38 will be mixing those drinks. The eatery’s social media suggests it could be as soon as next month.
Oh, one last thing to note before you get too amped up. K-38 cautions: spontaneous dancing will ensue. You’ve been warned.
