After going viral for a live-streamed customer service moment, Batter bakery in Hammond is preparing to open a second location on the edge of the Warehouse District this fall. The Tangipahoa Parish bakery is known for its custom cakes, and owner Abi Caswell went viral in July for having a customer lodge a complaint about a cake Caswell was decorating for the customer live on TikTok.

Caswell earned overwhelming praise for the way she handled the situation, and she’s moving forward with a new Batter location at 601 Baronne St., Suite C. With an area of 1,500 square feet, the new Batter shop will primarily function as a takeout location, according to a permit filing with the City of New Orleans. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

Batter was voted Reader’s Choice two years in a row by Tangi Lifestyles magazine. In addition to making custom cakes for celebrations and events, Batter also sells cookies, cupcakes, petit fours, and Pop-Tart-style pastries.
