Is Chow making a triumphant return? According to a pending ABC license application found in state public records, it would appear so. The restaurant, market, and bar is planned for Suite 1100 at City Center Bishop Ranch on 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon.
While representatives for City Center confirmed with What Now San Francisco that this is indeed the Bay Area legacy founded by Chef Tony Gulisano, they could not give a projected opening date, noting that the space is in its early stages of construction. Gulisano could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
Fans of the Bay Area restaurant empire were sad to see the Chow’s final outpost at Lafayette’s La Fiesta Square disappear in 2019. It was the last of five locations throughout the Bay Area, some of which were short-lived before they started shutting down.
Gulisano opened the first Chow on San Francisco’s Church Street, which had a successful 22-year run. Throughout that time, it was known for its all-day brunch and backyard patio, while the other locations were known for serving Gulisano’s inspired menu. We’re sure this tip at City Center will be welcome news for the Bay Area foodies, who might be able to dine at this beloved restaurant once again sometime during 2022.
