Panera Bread is plotting one of its next Bay Area locations in Contra Costa County, according to recent real estate intel. A 3,688 square-foot space at 215 Alamo Plaza in Alamo is currently undertaking a full build-out. Based on this information, this new Panera location may open in Spring or Summer of this year.

Panera Bread originated in Missouri in the late ‘80s. Over the years, the bakery-café has proliferated throughout the United States and now boasts more than 2,000 locations across North America. They are known for serving freshly prepared and clean dishes that range from sandwiches, to soups, flatbreads, and bakery items.

Currently, those in Alamo have to travel up to Walnut Creek or down to San Ramon to eat at their closest Panera Bread location. Luckily, this commute won’t last for long. Representatives for Panera Bread could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
