The flavors of Nepal will soon be served at a new Polk Gulch restaurant called Piroo. According to city public records, the new establishment is taking over the corner restaurant space at 1101 Polk St. near Lower Nob Hill

Owner Romas Shrestha has confirmed with What Now San Francisco his plans for Piroo, adding that while many aspects of the new business are still in their planning stages, they have a goal to open by February. They’ve recently applied for a beer and wine license, which will hopefully be approved by next month.

Besides letting us know that Piroo will be a Nepali restaurant, Shrestha remained tight-lipped about the menu. We will just have to wait until Piroo opens to the public to find out what hearty and delicious food is in store, but until then we will be keeping an eye on this location for any further developments.

1101 Polk St. was the site of former sandwich spot Eleven O One and more recently, Asian-inspired brunch concept Park Soi Cafe. Little is known about the latter — while Yelp and Google indicate that the restaurant is still active, there are no reviews or activity on any food delivery apps to prove this. Based on the inactivity, it’s not hard to believe that a new restaurant like Piroo is in line to take its place.
