Or Bar, a new LGBTQI bar replacing the 40-year-old Gold Coast Bar, is coming to West Hollywood, located at 8228 Santa Monica Blvd.

Gold Coast Bar joined the many other longstanding bars that have recently closed, including Flaming Saddles and Rage. Or Bar is paying homage to the previous tenant with its name, with Or translating to “gold” in French. Despite the tribute, the new bar is not a continuation of Gold Coast, which closed last year. The property was then rented out by  Stephanie (Stevie) Schestag, Circus of Books owner Rob Novinger, and former Fashion Police co-host George Kotsiopoulos.

This inclusive LGBTQI space will open in January 2022 and offer coffee in the morning and cocktails at night. Or Bar will be an upscale space with back-to-basic drinks, great music, and chic peeps, according to Kotsiopoulos’ Instagram. The trio of owners is currently remodeling the space to give it an identity of its own.

“What we are doing is starting a new chapter continuing the traditions the community covets for this space,” Kotsiopoulos told Eater LA. “The last thing we wanted was for it to become something other than a gay bar.”
