The famous Italian sandwich shop All’Antico Vinaio has plans to open a new Los Angeles location in Beverly Hills, located at 9529 Santa Monica Blvd.

Very few details have emerged regarding this new restaurant. What is known is that the new All’Antico Vinaio will move into a 653 square-foot space in Beverly Hills, with Brandon Cohan and Sheela Shouhed representing the landlord and tenant. The new restaurant will likely open in the first half of 2022, considering their lease starts next month. All’Antico Vinaio first popped up in Los Angeles in 2019 when they held a two-week event inside chi SPACCA/ Mozza2Go, where they sold out of Italian sandwiches every day.

At this point, it is unknown if this new location will serve as their first permanent brick-and-mortar for Los Angeles or another pop-up. Owner Tommaso Mazzanti has good reason to open up their first storefront in Los Angeles. As mentioned, the restaurant, one of Italy’s most famous food Instagrams, was welcomed with open arms during their two-week pop-up at the corner of Highland Ave. and Melrose Ave. They originally planned to open for only four hours during lunchtime, but they could not make it to close without selling out.

All’Antico Vinaio takes pride in their meat and cheese selection, with options including porchettas, aged cheeses, balls of fior di latte, and imported salamis. As for sandwich creations from New York, some popular choices include L’Inferno and La Favolosa with sbriciolana, Tuscan salami, pecorino cream, artichoke cream, and spicy smooshed eggplant. In tradition with keeping the sandwiches simple, the restaurant does not use any condiments on their sandwiches. Instead, they favor various smears like artichoke cream and truffle cream.

All’Antico Vinaio was opened in Forence, Italy in 1989 under the Mazzanti family. The family decided to try their luck across the water by bringing pop-ups to Los Angeles and New York City in 2019. The success of these pop-ups led the family to recently open a new brick-and-mortar in the latter. Whether or not the Los Angeles location is another pop-up or an official West Coast flagship, Beverly Hills residents can expect long lines outside this building when they finally open.
