Supermarket Chain Grocery Outlet is openings its 13th Los Angeles location in Granada Hills, located at 11130 Balboa Blvd.
The new grocery store will replace the former home of Signature Banquet Hall sometime in 2022. This will become the second grocery store in the Balboa Mission Square Shopping Center, following Trader Joe’s. Grocery Outlet will serve as a go-to spot for brand-loving shoppers who love a hard-to-beat price. This is great news for San Fernando residents who were forced to choose between the Chatsworth and Sun Valley locations.
Grocery Outlet, originally named Cannery Sales, was founded by James Read in 1949. Read started by purchasing government surplus food products and selling them in vacant stores in San Francisco. Following his death in 1982, his sons, Steven and Peter Read, took over management and renamed it to what it is today. Still within the Read family with MacGregor Read as Vice Chairman, the grocery chain now has over 401 locations in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
There’s no telling exactly when this new grocery outlet will open, but hopefully, it’s before summer, when the company hosts its annual Independence from Hunger food drive. During July, the campaign collects food and cash donations in-store and online that go directly to the Alameda County Community Food Bank. These donations are distributed directly to stores’ local food agency partners across the country.
Finally getting a Grocery Outlet on GH. My sister keeps going on about them.
