Boca Raton, Florida-based IPIC Theaters is hoping to open its Colony Square dine-in theatre — the fifteenth for the company — before the end of 2020, an IPIC rep told What Now Atlanta Sunday. IPIC was supposed to debut the new theatre on December 10, according to its website, but that date has been “pushed because of COVID-19.”

The exact opening date is expected to be announced soon as staff training for the new IPIC is wrapping up, the rep said. IPIC Atlanta will likely open in time for Wonder Woman 1984 which will be released on Christmas Day. IPIC Theaters CEO Paul Safran told the Midtown Alliance earlier this week that a December debut was in the cards, but did not provide the neighborhood organization an exact date either.

IPIC Atlanta has 426 pod-style seats across its nine screens and will serve guests food from its in-house restaurant Serena Patificio. It is situated atop Politan Row at Colony Square, an 11-vendor food hall with two bars — one of which is “secret” — and several event spaces that is slated to open in spring 2021. “IPIC Theaters’ designs and layouts organically allow for social distancing between parties with pod-style seating that separates parties, wider rows, and individual aisles leading to seats as well as smaller auditorium sizes,” Safran told Midtown Alliance.
