According to recent reporting, the culinary team behind East Coast style sandwich shop Wario’s Beef & Pork are opening a new concept called Goood Friends at 171 N Fourth St. While the team is keeping a bit of mystery around the menu offerings at the forthcoming concept, Wario’s Beef & Pork teased on its Instagram account that the new concept name isn’t a typo, but rather “three O’s because this joint is about to be just that goood.”
What Now Columbus confirmed through email with the Goood Friends team the motivation for opening the new eatery. “It is a culmination of our favorite Midwest food experiences with a heavy portion of our own personalities,” chef Tyler Minnis said via email.
Even though they’re keeping the exact menu underwraps, the tagline for Goood Friends is “Midwest Fine Grub” and Minnis confirms that the entire team is looking forward to collaborating with local vendors, makers and farmers to create their take on familiar Midwest dishes throughout the four seasons. Goood Friends will open later this summer and will operate out of Columbus craft brewery Jackie O’s. The eatery will share operational hours with the brewery and Minnis shared that the food will pair well with the craft beer selection.
“The opportunity to partner with Jackie O’s arose and we knew it would be foolish not to capitalize on the marriage so we jumped at the chance to work with them. We have a fantastic opportunity to add a lot of value to one another’s operations, and there are few things better to pair with a meal than a Jackie O’s beer,” said Minnis.
