It’s always hard to say goodbye to a beloved bar and restaurant. Pouring Ribbons was once such bar, known for its elevated drink concepts and popular cocktail classes. In honor of the bar’s legacy, locals are pouring one out for Pouring Ribbons…
On the bright side though, no closure lasts forever in this city. As soon as it it became available, the lease for the space at 225 Avenue B was immediately snatched up by restaurateur Salang Niphitkunthong. As the owner of Salang Group, Salang also operates Crystal Thai, which opened up in 2019 in Flatbush.
Currently in the process of applying for a full tavern license, Salang’s newest bar (which is still unnamed) is described as a “tavern featuring an Omakase menu similar to sushi.” Located specifically on the second floor of the Ave B building, the location is both intimate and exclusive, evoking the vibe of an old New York speakeasy. The space consists of a long, single bar on one end, with the perimeter lined with lined with tables and benches, keeping the middle open for dancing and egress.
Salang is expected to share further derails about his new bar and restaurant with the community board in February. At the moment he is proposing operating hours from 4PM – 2AM, every day, seven days a week. While this is comparable to the operating hours of Pouring Ribbon, the situation is always subject to change according to the board’s discretion.
