One of the country’s fastest-growing ramen chains is currently planning on opening a brand new outpost on West 46th Street.

KyuRamen was founded by entrepreneur Gary Lin, who set on a quest long ago to make Americans crazy about ramen. Having studied the art of ramen-making innately in Japan, Lin absorbed the essence of Japanese ramen in order to master the art and provide high-quality yet affordable ramen to brand new audiences. As their website states, the mission of KyuRamen is to “let our general working class and student population enjoy the stress-free Ramen in a stress-free environment.”

When you hear “student” and “ramen” in the same sentence, you may be picturing those atrocious salted noodles in a microwavable cup, but KyuRamen is anything but that. The restaurant’s thick and rich soup bases are served with a fresh Japanese-style pork roast, a 7-minute boiled egg, and a pair of chopped green onions. What most people consider to be “ramen” is in reality just one of three types of ramen styles known in Japan. KyuRamen sets itself apart from the competition by including the other two styles in their menu, introducing guests to a wide new world of noodles they never knew existed.

KyuRamen’s mastery of flavor and efficiency has turned the restaurant into a hotly growing franchise. In fact, Gary Lin has even described his dream for the restaurant as becoming “the Starbucks of ramen.” Boasting over 120 locations worldwide, the chain currently operates four unique locations in New York and is planning many more launches across the country.

Now, a new KyuRamen will be opening in Hell’s Kitchen at 315 West 46th Street. The new restaurant will be operated by franchisee Jingwei Wu, who also operates the KyuRamen at 5th avenue in Brooklyn. Expected to operate daily from 11AM – 11PM, the space is expected to seat a total of 44 guests at one time.

Wu’s new restaurant will be replacing Bottom’s Up, a popular gay bar in the neighborhood that closed recently as the pandemic devastated New York’s nightlife community. KyuRamen promises that many more locations will be opening up in the US, and you can follow the restaurant on Instagram for updates on all their new locations.
