Souvla is coming to Marin Country Mart this summer, SF Chronicle first reported. Soon to be located at 1805 Larkspur Landing Circle off Highway 101, Souvla is moving into a large space which will feature an 800 square-foot patio surrounded by olive trees in the upscale shopping center’s central courtyard.

Souvla, meaning “spit” or “skewer” in Greek, refers to the rod on which meat is roasted. The restaurant is known for its rotisserie-roasted meats – pork, chicken, lamb – wrapped in fresh pita bread. They also have their own private-label wine and frozen Greek yogurt topped with baklava or olive oil. At Marin Country Mart, they will be open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“If people aren’t necessarily coming to San Francisco and ordering Souvla in the way that they used to, let’s bring Souvla to them,” founder and CEO Charles Bililies told the Chronicle, explaining that the pandemic is what moved him to want to open in the North Bay. Many people who previously commuted into the city for work now work remotely, while others have simply relocated outside the city.

Bililies opened Souvla in Hayes Valley in April 2014. Since then, he’s expanded to locations in NoPa, the Mission and the Marina. For more information, visit www.souvla.com.
