Uncle Joe in the Sunset District is soon to take on a new identity. According to state public records, Tommy’s Market & Deli has applied to take over Uncle’s Joe’s ABC license at 2101 21st Ave. But don’t worry—the new business will not veer too far from what regulars already come to this spot for.

In conversation with What Now San Francisco, owner Tom Taptelis says that Tommy’s Market & Deli “will have much more variety of food and specialty sandwiches, as well as groceries for the neighborhood.” Taptelis adds that he plans to expand upon the “market” aspect, selling flowers and fresh produce for the convenience of nearby residents.

If all goes according to plan, the license takeover should be approved by the beginning of April. That said, the space will probably make its debut as Tommy’s sometime this spring. Until then, Taptelis is busy fine-tuning all the details for this new neighborhood market and deli.

A website is to follow in the near future. We will post updates and photos of the new space once they are obtained. Stay tuned.
