Local beer, good food, and great company? You can have it all at Fermentation Lab near Civic Center and soon, in Japantown as well. The bar and restaurant is looking to open a second location at 1700A Post St.

Fermentation Lab is owned by Jakub Przybyszewski and Jeannie Kim, who confirmed the news with What Now San Francisco this week. “Our second location is in a bigger space that will allow us to serve a wider variety of fermented drinks and foods. We have a special chef from overseas helping us develop the menu and eventually hope to have a full liquor license so we can serve cocktails,” Kim says.

At their Market Street location, Fermentation Lab has a considerable selection of craft beers, ciders, seltzers, and kombuchas from California, as well as local wines. To munch on, they have delectable small plates such as Duck Fat Fries and Beet Tartare, plus burgers and chicken sandwiches.

With the second location, Kim aims to focus the menu on more international cuisine that uses fermented ingredients. They are still in the early stages of this location’s development, but Kim hopes to open doors by the end of the year.
