Pandemic era concept, Sunny’s Steakhouse, began with the notion of having an outdoor restaurant. For that time, it was great. Guests could eat and drink fine foods and spirits in the outdoors. Now, it’s time for a change. At least, that’s what co-owner Will Thompson effectively told the Miami New Times.
Come May 8, the concept will be closing down for the summer. This is a move that Thompson and his business partner, Carey Hynes have done the summer previous. Thompson is quoted saying, “A big cabernet and a pork chop may not be something that you want to think about for dinner when it’s completely humid out.”
Last summer, they closed down and reopened come the fall, and that is the plan for this year. However, when they re-open in Lot 6 of the Little River Neighborhood, they will be outfitted with an indoor dining space with a 70-person seating capacity and more bar space.
It isn’t clear when exactly the concept will re-open this fall; but once they do, guests won’t have to worry over sudden rain showers or the muggy South Florida humidity.
