Birdbox is coming soon to 680 Second St. in South Beach this summer. The pop-up began as an offshoot to two-Michelin-starred Birdsong, while the latter was temporarily closed during the pandemic.

Through Birdbox, chef Chris Bleidorn and Aarti Shetty began serving Claude the Claw, a fried chicken sandwich notorious for the crispy chicken claw that sticks right out of the bun. “A lot of folks are scared or they don’t want the claw. But what people should really be frightened about is all the chickens without the feet because then you don’t really know what you’re getting,” Bleidorn tells the San Francisco Chronicle.

Meant to remind diners where their meal came from, Claude the Claw became a viral sensation that is now here to stay. Claude the Claw will be joined by Birdbox’s popular half and quarter fried chicken meals, chicken smashburgers, chicken salads, desserts, local beer, wine, and more.

Birdbox will be a fast-casual restaurant open for lunch and dinner. They will offer takeout, delivery, and dine-in seating that will span a two-level space. Follow @birdboxsf to find out when they open this summer.
