Dumpling Kitchen is coming soon to the Castro, Hoodline reports. The popular dumpling restaurant will take over the former Papi Rico space at 544 Castro St. by the end of this summer, according to manager William Tao.

Dumpling Kitchen is known for specializing in Shanghai cuisine. “Most Chinese restaurants in San Francisco serve Cantonese food or Northern China cuisine. Shanghai cuisine is special, it has a little part of Northern Chinese food and Cantonese food. It also has its own unique dim sum and other dishes,” Tao tells Hoodline

From Crab & Pork to Pork & Napa Cabbage, Dumpling Kitchen makes their dumplings on-site by hand. The new location will even feature a dumpling station at which customers can watch the delicious eats being made fresh.

Tao says they knew the Papi Rico space was the one the moment they set foot in it. They intend to create an art piece with some of the remaining decor and will restore the murals on the patio, but otherwise the space will be entirely remodeled.

Owner Michael Shao opened the original Dumpling Kitchen in Outer Sunset in 2011.Over the years, they set themselves apart from other dumpling restaurants serving items like Shanghai-style Pan-fried Pork Buns and Shanghai-style Steamed Pork Dumplings.
