According to an On-Sale General Eating Place license application pending since October 21st, members of the Nopalito team including Allyson Jossel (the owner), Chef Gonzalo Gonzalez Guzmán, and Chef Joji Sumi are planning to open STOA, a new restaurant concept, at 701 Haight Street.

The first-floor, 1600-square-foot space was formerly home to Fort Point Beer Company and is near eateries such as the Syrian restaurant Palmyra, an Ethiopian restaurant, Axum Cafe, Otra Mexican restaurant, and Anny Coyle’s bar.

While it’s unclear what exactly the team has planned for STOA, Nopalito is known as a “popular Mexican restaurant serving traditional, organic grub in a casual and bright dining room.” The menu offers totopos, tacos, a carnitas plate, and the torta de pollo al pibil — a combination of homemade telera, achiote marinated grilled chicken, refried beans, pickled onion, cabbage, avocado, and habanero sauce.

An opening date has not yet been announced. What Now San Francisco briefly contacted Allyson Jossel, but she was unable to provide further information.
