Hillcrust Pizza is putting the final touches on their new restaurant in Hillcrest. Specializing in Neapolitan-style pizza and cheesesteak sandwiches, the location will have a uniquely local spin on classic dishes.

Co-Owners Zia Qadiri and Jay Saadat give priority to high-quality ingredients for their entire menu. Qadiri tells What Now San Diego he’s created a special pizza recipe he’s been testing for the past 3 years. A veteran of the industry, this is Qadiri’s first restaurant.

Hillcrust Pizza uses 00 flour for its dough, which goes through a 5-day fermentation process which Qadiri explains allows the dough to mature and adds to its excellent aroma and texture. Their pizza sauce contains the best of the best: authentic and certified San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. To top it all off, their cheese is expertly sourced as Qadiri shares, “I’m going after quality without the ridiculous price.” The fresh pizzas are then cooked to perfection in an Italian-style dome oven, made in Southern California. Hillcrust Pizza will also offer vegetarian and vegan options of their specialty pizzas.

Also on their menu, Hillcrest’s own Hilly Cheesesteak Sandwich will impress using premium quality sirloin, served on Philadelphia-sourced Amoroso rolls. Sandwiches are topped with the cheese of the customers preference, provolone for a West-coast-style sandwich or Cheez Whiz for Philly-style.

Hillcrust Pizza is expected to open in February 2023. Stay updated by following Hillcrust Pizza on Instagram.
