Fresh on the heels of opening a second outpost nestled in the Miralani Makers’ District, Smokin J’s BBQ has further plans to expand in the region. San Diego Magazine reports the bbq restaurant is planning to unveil a third San Diego location this year.
In 2020, Smokin J’s moved its pop-up restaurant into a brick-and-mortar space in Old Town Poway. Owner and pitmaster Jeremy George operates the business alongside wife MacKenzie and brother Josh.
In February, Smokin J’s announced service to the Miramar area from a shared space with Serpentine Cider and Lost Cause Meadery. Now the bbq spot is working on a third restaurant in an undisclosed location Downtown.
Dedicated to the bbq craft and inspired by his time in St. Louis, Jeremy George offers smoked meats galore at Smokin’ J’s locations. Menu highlights include the 12-hour smoked brisket, St. Louie spare ribs, and the 3×3 combo platter for those looking to indulge in a mix of chicken, brisket, and pulled pork.
Beyond meat, Smokin’ J’s offers traditional sides like mac and cheese, slaw, and bean crack with chunks of pork, plus housemade sauces. The Old Town Poway location offers a breakfast menu with hearty bowls, omelettes, and loaded breakfast J-Rito’s. The Miramar location offers lunch and dinner service only.
Smokin J’s BBQ Downtown is reportedly planned for Summer 2023. For now, visit the Website for more information and follow on Instagram for updates and drool-worthy posts.
