According to an on-sale beer and wine license application that has been pending since November 30, a new restaurant called Bar Mosquito Thai Tapas is coming to 1277-1279 Gilman Street in Berkeley.

The space is currently home to Thai Corner, and neighboring establishments include Westbrae Biergarten, Coffee Conscious, and Blue Heron Bikes.

What Now San Francisco briefly spoke to co-owner Todd Sirimongkolvit, who is also the owner of Siri Group Inc. — a restaurant group behind Bay Area eateries such as Bird & Buffalo in Oakland, Basil Thai, and Soi 4 Bangkok Eatery. He shares that Bar Mosquito Thai Tapas is a new concept and the spot on Gilman street will mark its first location.

Sirimongkolvit says that he and the other team members are still planning the menu, but that the restaurant will focus on wine and small Thai plates — specifically cuisine traditional in the country’s northern regions.

Bar Mosquito Thai Tapas is predicted to open in spring 2023.
