The Lost Abbey has its next move planned in North County after a series of updates and changes to the brand and its various entities. San Diego Beer News shares that The Lost Abbey has signed an alternating proprietorship agreement with Mother Earth Brew Co. in Vista for its next phase of scaling down its beer production and rehoming some of its multiple concepts.
If you’re just catching up on the what’s-what with The Lost Abbey, co-founder Tomme Arthur has kept the public privy to the multitude of obstacles the brand has faced through the pandemic and ever-changing beer landscape. Since last year, Arthur has shared intentions to decrease the breweries’ footprint in an effort to reduce costs but maintain growth and exciting new offerings.
The Lost Abbey is currently preparing to separate its brands Port Brewing and The Hop Concept and vacate from 155 Mata Way in San Marcos to make way for Pizza Port Brewing. Production of Port Brewing and The Hop Concept beers will remain at the San Marcos site under direction of Pizza Port and The Lost Abbey will keep doors open at its various taproom sites around the region.
The Lost Abbey, Tiny Bubbles, and Khárisma Hard Teas will all land at Mother Earth’s restructured facility, offering enough space for brewing and office needs, as well as a tasting room.
Brewing in Vista should commence by Summer, pending approval of the new ABC licensing agreement. Plans for the new tasting room are down the road. In the meantime, The Lost Abbey celebrates its final weekend operating from its San Marcos facility before passing the location on to Pizza Port Brewing. Read details surrounding the update here.
