Copita Tequileria y Comida, a Sausalito-based “modern Mexican restaurant focusing on seasonally driven fare and tequila drinks,” is opening a new location. According to its website, the eatery is “coming soon” to 1098 Lincoln Ave in San Jose, where it will neighbor establishments such as El Halal Amigos, Opa! Willow Glen, the American restaurant The Table, and Willow Glen Creamery.

The restaurant, founded by Larry Mindel and the James Beard Award-winning cookbook author and chef Joanne Weir, has already made a name for itself in the Bay Area for its gluten-free food options and expansive selection of tequila and mezcal. The Copita menu offers small plates like habanero wings, queso fundido, Mexican truffle empanadas, a selection of tacos served on corn tortillas “made by hand in-house,” ceviche options, and big plates — including chicken enchiladas in manchamantel mole, 24-hour carnitas, and quesabirria.

In addition to its spot in Sausalito, this will mark Copita’s second brick-and-mortar. What Now San Francisco was unable to contact a restaurant representative before the time of publication, but stay tuned to the eatery’s Instagram page for details about its upcoming opening.
