Right alongside South Dixie Highway in Coral Gables, at the intersection of Madruga Avenue and Santona Street, a new cafe is preparing to launch. A plan review was recently submitted for Zatar Wine and Toast Restocafe at 1430 Madruga Ave.
What Now reached out on Thursday to owner Carlos Alvarez. Alvarez declined to speak on the brand and its plans.
As a result, the details on Zatar Wine and Toast Restocafe remain a mystery, leaving us in the dark for now on its operating hours and opening date. The menu, too, is a bit of a mystery, but it helps to have an evocative name. “Zatar” likely refers to the herb by that name, and to the spice mixture made with said herb with toasted sesame seeds, dried sumac, and other spices. As far as the wine and toast—who doesn’t like those?
In its location on Madruga Avenue, Zatar Wine and Toast Restocafe will be part of a culinary scene along the stretch of South Dixie Highway northeast of the intersection with Southwest 57th Avenue. It includes food and drink spots like Shake Shack, Raw Juce, Madruga Bakery, Coyo Taco, and more.
