Meta Asian Kitchen, a fast-casual culinary concept created by chefs Ken Wan and Doris Yuen, will soon come to 39 W 1st Ave Denver, CO 80223, according to a commercial construction permit filed with the city. The project description reads as follows:
“NEW RESTAURANT TENANT IN A RECENTLY CONSTRUCTED TENANT SPACE (FIRST USE IN TENANT SPACE).”
Meta Asian Kitchen currently resides at Denver’s Avanti food hall. It’s unclear if Meta Asian Kitchen will leave Avanti before opening its new location.
As per MAK’s website, “the now-food stall began as a pop-up at markets and festivals in the greater New York area.” After a few years of sharing family-inspired dishes with hungry attendees, Wan and Yuen debuted MAKFam at Avanti in 2019.
A combination of their Cantonese heritage, American upbringing, and affinity for Asian street food, MAKfam is an amalgam of tradition, innovation, and inspiration. The menu offers an array of appetizers; three types of bao buns; entrees like BBQ chicken over rice and sizzling spicy noodles; brunch, sides, a single kid’s meal, and beverages.
“To perfect dishes before being added to the menu, Ken and Doris conduct taste tests with their parents, siblings, and other family members for feedback and suggestions,” the website explains. “Keeping family in mind, MAKfam’s hospitality approach is focused on making each and every customer feel like they’re a guest in their home.”
What Now Denver reached out to both Doris Yuen and Avanti Denver for more information, but did not receive immediate feedback. This article will be updated as additional information becomes available.
