According to a pending beer and wine license application, the sushi restaurant Echigo Home Cook plans to begin operating in the Mission District. The address listed is 870 Valencia Street, just a hop away from Mission Playground and restaurants like Cafe Ethiopia, Chic n’ Time, and The Beehive cocktail bar.

At this time, it’s unclear whether the Valencia Street spot will become a second location, or if the restaurant is moving from its current space at 2760 Octavia Street. In any case, readers can anticipate a menu loaded with sushi options.

Echigo currently offers specialty rolls like the Spooky Monster — made of snow crab meat and avocado, topped with ahi tuna, salmon, hamachi, chives, spicy aioli, and wasabi sauce — and the Skeleton, which is hamachi, cucumber, and scallions rolled in rice, topped with scallops, tobiko, yuzu sauce, and wasabi sauce. There are main plate options as well, including curries and sandos. To drink, patrons can choose from an expansive selection of matcha and coffee-based beverages.

What Now San Francisco was unable to contact a restaurant representative by the time of publication. An opening date has not yet been announced.
