A contemporary Edomae-inspired sushi restaurant in Spring is planning to open a second location, this time at Hughes Landing in The Woodlands.

Diners could begin enjoying Bloofin’s menu at the 5,000-square-foot space at 1900 Hughes Landing Blvd., Ste. 300 in The Woodlands sometime this spring, possibly in late May, according to a recent project filing.

“Edo” is the old name for Tokyo, and “Mae” means front, referencing fish caught in Tokyo Bay, according to the original translation. Now, Edomae refers to the traditional Tokyo method of preparing sushi with local fresh fish, said Bloofin owner Laurence Ho, in an earlier press release.

The menu offers fresh fish imported daily from Tokyo and other parts of the globe, as well as local and seasonal ingredients. Diners can enjoy a 72-hour slow-cooked Wagyu skewer, a variety of other appetizers, soups, and salads, plus a large selection of fresh sashimi, nigiri, and maki. Diners can also enjoy a drink from Bloofin’s curated selection of Japanese whisky, sake, and cocktails.
