It was reported earlier this month by ChinatownVegas.com that Japanese fusion tapas and wine bar Osaka Sunset has closed its doors. A few weeks later, the website revealed the name of the restaurant that will be replacing it: A Different Beast.

Launched by culinary couple Kat Hu and Justin Yi, A Different Beast will open in the former Osaka Sunset space, located in Suite 108 at 5420 Spring Mountain Road. Owners Hu and Yi are known for Hock + Hoof, a Los Angeles restaurant that has since shuttered.

What Now confirmed the news with Justin Yi on Thursday. Yi said the restaurant’s renovated space will have seating for 65. A Different Beast will serve up Catalonian and Basque cuisine in dim sum style, along with beer and wine, Yi said.

No opening date has been set for A Different Beast yet but it’s working toward an opening in November.

Moving into the former Osaka Sunrise space, the new tapas restaurant will join a culinary neighborhood that includes Korean BBQ spot Captain 6, Argentinian restaurant Rincon de Buenos Aires, LaPostté, and more.
