Katy Grand will become the new home of international Asian-inspired bakery, Uncle Tetsu Japanese Cheesecakes. The new Uncle Tetsu will be located at 23333 Grand Circle Blvd. in Katy.
According to a recent project filing, Uncle Tetsu will open in about a 900-square-foot space and will offer take-out only menu options. Construction could be complete sometime this summer.
The menu features made-from-scratch, sweet and fluffy cheesecakes that are stamped with the Uncle Tetsu character. The Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes combine “the richness of American cheesecakes with the lightness of French soufflés,” according to the brand’s website.
Menu selections are baked daily and vary by location. Guests can get the original cheesecake, and other flavors include strawberry, chocolate, and ube, which is derived from the purple yam. Cheese tarts are also available. The Japanese dessert features a flaky crust with a custard cream cheese filling. Several flavor options are available.
Uncle Tetsu was founded by Tetsushi Mizokami in Japan in 1985. Uncle Tetsu is a subsidiary from the group behind Panda Express, Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. There are dozens of Uncle Tetsu locations across the globe including about ten in California. Panda Restaurant Group is working to expand the Uncle Tetsu across the U.S. with Texas the latest market to host the brand.
