Exciting news for cocktail enthusiasts and entertainment seekers as Freaki Tiki Bar, a new establishment by Attorney and Owner Dakota Fontenot, is set to open its doors at 6710 Southwest Fwy. This new bar will be adjacent to Colorado Bar & Grill.

Fontenot shared in a recent phone interview that his father, Dallas Fontenot, had always dreamt of opening a tiki bar. Following his father’s passing in September 2021, Fontenot decided to fulfill his father’s dream by introducing the Freaki Tiki Bar to Houston’s vibrant nightlife scene.

Freaki Tiki Bar will showcase an impressive lineup of tiki mug cocktails crafted by professional mixologists. Patrons can access both establishments through convenient entrances, allowing them to seamlessly transition between the two venues or visit them separately. The tiki bar will also feature live, fresh oysters and plans to host karaoke nights along with two stages to feature hula girls, further enhancing the entertainment options available. To ensure year-round comfort, Freaki Tiki Bar will be climate controlled, providing an enjoyable experience regardless of the weather outside despite being an enclosed patio space.

Not stopping there, Fontenot also plans to remodel and rebrand the Colorado Bar & Grill. The renovations will focus on creating a more inclusive environment that empowers women while instilling respect. Fontenot’s wife will take on the role of General Manager, ensuring the bar and grill’s success with her expertise.

The revamped Colorado Bar & Grill will offer a 5-star menu featuring a range of delectable dishes and a selection of classier cocktails. Furthermore, Fontenot aims to support his employees in their career growth beyond their time at the bar and grill. Customers can expect a high-class dining experience complete with lobster tanks, white tablecloths, and top-notch service. To cater to poker enthusiasts, a VIP poker room with a custom table will soon be available.

Fontenot’s realistic opening time frame for Freaki Tiki Bar is aimed for January 2024.
