Batter Bakery, a boutique bakery known for small-batch creations made using “premium ingredients and fresh, seasonal flavors,” is closing down its Pine Street café and relocating to Berkeley.

“After 15 years in San Francisco, we are moving our production kitchen across the bay to Berkeley, into the historic Berkeley Kitchens building at 2701 Eighth Street,” reads a statement on the business’s website.

Owner Jennifer Musty adds, “This kitchen move will also mark the closure of our Pine Street café, which has been our flagship presence since summer 2016. Our 555 California Street Kiosk, our Ferry Plaza Farmers Market stall, San Francisco special order deliveries, and our wholesale operations in the city will remain open and unchanged.”

For readers unfamiliar with the concept, Batter Bakery was founded by Musty in San Francisco back in 2008 and is known for its scones, biscuits, muffins, granola, as well as cookies and cakes — all made with ingredients sourced from local farmers.

“We look forward to building new and exciting connections in the East Bay as well, and hope that you will soon see Batter goodies in new wholesale partner locations, and an East Bay farmers market or two once we get settled in our new space,” shares Musty.

An opening date has not yet been announced, so follow Batter Bakery on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
