The shuttered 21st-floor bar and restaurant at Beacon Grand, formerly known as the Starlight Room and Lizzie’s Starlight Room, plans to reopen as Starlite, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

In addition to a new food program directed by Chef Johnny Spero — known for his Michelin-starred restaurant Reverie — and cocktail menu overseen by Scott Baird, a co-founder of Trick Dog, the concept will boast an entirely new interior that evokes the Art Deco era.

“I wanted the menu to be effortless and easy, something that people can engage with and be entertained by,” shares Baird. He adds, “We’re trying to go back to making fun and interesting drinks… We want the drinks to feel celebratory.”

At 450 Powell Street, the Union Square Hotel was formerly known as Sir Francis Drake before Northview Hotel Group bought and began remodeling it in 2021.

Starlite is slated to open on February 2. Stay tuned for updates.
