Recent reporting notes that the longstanding Albany bistro at 1111 Solano Ave, Rendez-Vouz Cafe, permanently closed last month after being open since 2008. However, customers shouldn’t fret for long, as the space has already found a new tenant. Eater reports the team at Brezo has acquired the space, and plans to open the eatery in the coming months.
An official opening timeline is forthcoming, though may be in early 2024. Many of the plans for the incoming restaurant have yet to be unveiled, though the menu at the new restaurant will cover brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, with options for vegetarians, vegans, and meat lovers alike, as indicated by its online menu. Chef and owner of Brezo, Heather Mervine, specializes in California-local meats and produce, having grown up on a farm in Northern California.
Mervine comes from a longstanding culinary background as the former chef at Lake Tahoe’s Hyatt Regency Hotel before returning to the Bay Area to get more experience in restaurants. Although the chef has been cooking since she was a child, Brezo is Mervine’s debut concept.
Chef Mervine will co-own the concept with fellow chef and owner Hector Hernandez, who originates from Mexico and will bring a unique perspective to the seasonal-focused menu.
The Albany community can stay updated on Brezo’s hours of operation, opening date, and more on its Instagram or Facebook. Brezo officials were not immediately available for additional comment.
