San Pablo-based concept Moku Hawaiian BBQ plans to debut its second location — this time in Berkeley.

Coming to 2488 Channing Way — taking over a spot formerly home to Chinese Express — the eatery will land near establishments such as Champion’s Curry, Mezzo, and Noodle Dynasty.

Moku’s owner, Leo Jians, tells What Now San Francisco that he is currently working to obtain permits and that Moku is slated to open sometime next month.

On the menu, locals will find main plates representative of traditional Hawaiian comfort food — think chicken katsu, Hawaiian barbeque chicken, and kalbi short ribs — as well as appetizers such as spam musubi.

Moku will offer indoor dining and to-go options for patrons hoping to enjoy the cuisine in the comfort of their own homes.
