A new Italian restaurant is opening in Downtown Doral early in the new year. Called Altamura Trattoria E Forno, the new restaurant will open at 7835 NW 107th Ave., serving up pan-Italian cuisine with a focus on fresh bread, pasta, and pizza.
“We are trying to bring to Doral an Italian experience that is not just about the kitchen but the hospitality. We’re very particular about that,” Elisabetta, a co-owner of the restaurant, told What Now on Friday.
Details on the restaurant are still under wraps, with the menu and the overall décor/vibe still not revealed.
What can you tell us? asked What Now.
“Well obviously it’s Italian cuisine. We are three partners, all three from Italy—me, my husband, and our partner—all from regions from north to south. We are trying to explore traditional recipes from all over Italy. We’ll be focused on fresh bread and fresh pasta made in house, and pizza.”
And about the space?
“That’s still a secret. But I can say it will be cozy.”
The Altamura Trattoria website offers the following quote as an explanation of its mission: “La felicita non si trova nel possesso o nell’acquisizione, ma nel dare e nel condividere.”
It’s a quote attributed to Cicerone. In English: Happiness doesn’t come from gaining possessions, but from giving and sharing.
