Two-Michelin-starred concept Lazy Bear plans to shutter for renovations on July 27, but will host a week of communal dinner parties beginning July 23, according to SF Eater.
“Diners, seated at two 20-seat tables, are encouraged to socialize both with each other and the chefs — expect a menu that draws on local Bay Area summer produce, likely highlighting eggplant, melon, squash, and tomatoes,” the Journal shares.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Lazy Bear, the restaurant offers a brief introduction to its approach on its website: “The best dining experiences are the ones in which we’re seated around a table sharing food and stories with others. Lazy Bear serves modern American food inspired by the wild, and by nostalgia, in a format that calls to mind those great American shared eating experiences that we love.”
“In its first year of eligibility, Lazy Bear was awarded a Michelin Star, and the following year was upgraded to two Michelin stars. Chef David [Barzelay] was named Best New Chef by Food & Wine Magazine in 2016,” the statement continues.
What Now San Francisco reached out to Barzelay to inquire about the refresh, but he could not provide additional information before publication.
According to an Instagram post, the eatery is slated to reopen by mid-September.
